Welcome to WPAPP

Midlife is stressful.

Midlife is a life stage of multiple changes that cause additional stress, especially for racial/ethnic minority women, including Korean Americans. Furthermore, the recent outbreak of the COVID19 pandemic has placed an additional dimension of stress to this specific population.

Physical activities are often recommended as effective modalities to improve mood.

WPAPP has been developed by our team at The University of Texas, Austin.

A technology-based program using a web app could provide a highly innovative and effective way to promote lifestyle physical activity. We developed and pilot-tested the first web-app based lifestyle physical activity promotion program that is culturally tailored to midlife Korean American women (WPAPP) by incorporating their cultural attitudes.

What is WPAPP study?

The WPAPP study is a federally funded study on study to determine the efficacy of the Web-App based Lifestyle Physical Activity Promotion Program in improving depressive symptom experience of midlife Korean American women (WPAPP). The study is funded by the National Institute of the Nursing Research of National Institute of Health under Award Number R01NR020334. The study will be conducted from 04/06/2022 to 01/31/2027.
